Phil and his wife Fran are long-time residents of Garland.

Life started for him in Columbus, Ohio but he grew up in Scotland until his family returned to the US when he was 17. During their time in Scotland he excelled in soccer and gained the title of Champion player for the city of Glasgow.

He joined the US Navy at 18 and served with CAPS for Submarine Rescue and Minesweepers. During the Korean War he was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

He met his wife, Fran, in Ohio, together they had five children. He worked as an Engineer for 50 years. In 1970 they moved to Texas.

Phil, Fran and their daughter, Andrea owned and managed Hardware Plus which used to be at the intersection of Kingsley, Centerville and Broadway. Andrea now owns and operates Gecko Hardware 10233 E NW Hwy #409, Dallas, TX 75238
(214) 343-1971.

Phil retired in 1995; he and Fran used his extra time to do more traveling.

After suffering an aortic aneurysm Phil started making birdhouses. His mission is to donate them to non-profit groups for the purpose of raising money to help make his community a better place.
