Code of Ordinances, Chapter 22 Health, Article V Noise Control

From what I read, my understanding is:
If any sound can be heard in a residential area at a distance of 50 feet or more from the closest property line of the property where the sound originates, there shall be a presumption that the sound unreasonably disturbs or interferes with the peace, comfort and repose of neighboring persons of ordinary sensibilities.

Further information indicates that the normal decibel reading in our neighborhood is 55 dB(A) during the day and 50 dB(A) at night.
Any music that exceeds 65 dB(A) during the day or 60 dB(A) at night is considered a violation of code of ordinance.
Daytime is from 7 am until 10 pm, Night is 10 pm until 7 am.

Most smartphones can download an app that measures decibels
You can report violations:
– Non-Emergency number at (972) 485-4840
– eAssist app: “New Request”, “Environmental Health”,”Noise Complaint”
– email policeinfo@garlandtx.gov
– 911
